This vibrantly illustrated children's book is based on the hadith in which the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was questioned as to why he spent so much time standing in prayer. He responded with, “Shall I not be a grateful servant.” Using this powerful response, this book emphasizes that quote as a repeated reminder of all that we have been given and how grateful we should be for it.
"Shouldn't I Be a Grateful Servant" is a heartwarming book that captures the essence of gratitude and the beauty of Islam. This book is written in both Arabic and English to reach a wider audience and to promote bilingualism.
In this book, children will embark on a journey of self-discovery, connecting with Allah, nature, and their family. Through colorful illustrations and simple language, the book repeats the words in the hadith "Shouldn't I be a grateful servant" to show the importance of being grateful and appreciative of the blessings we have in our lives.
There is no main character in this book; however, there is a series of changing silhouettes of a boy and then a girl and their parents as the curious young children explore the world around them.
As the book moves from page to page the children encounter various situations where they appreciate the beauty of Allah's creation, from the chirping of birds to the glistening stars in the night sky, and the importance of showing gratitude to ones family and friends for their love and support.
